Track and Field
Aims & Objectives
Track and field is a sport comprising various competitive athletic events based on running, jumping, and throwing. The events in track include individual events such as 100m, 200m, 300m, 600m, 60m hurdles, 80m hurdles, and team events such as 4 x 100m and 4 x 300m. Field events include high jump, long jump and shot put.
Track and field as a CCA is an effective way to increase pupils’ cardiovascular fitness as well as maintain a healthy weight. It promotes competition and encourages pupils to improve their running ability while promoting teamwork. As pupils play, train and compete together, friendships are formed as members persevere and strive through training sessions together. This bond promotes camaraderie and makes the team stronger.
Character Development
We aim to nurture and develop discipline and sportsmanship in our athletes. As pupils gain more experience, they will get the opportunity to develop their leadership skills as they help guide their teammates and juniors.
